Your website isn’t your homepage. Your Google Business Profile is. Before anyone in Nanuet or New City visits your site, they see your map listing — hours, photos, reviews — and for “near me” searches it drives more calls than your website ever will.
Pick the most specific category
“Italian restaurant” beats “restaurant” for every pasta search in town. Google matches profiles to searches by primary category first, and most owners pick a vague one. Choose the category that describes your core money-maker, then add secondary categories for the rest.
Photos are proof of life
Profiles with fresh, real photos get dramatically more calls and direction requests. Upload monthly: the storefront, the team, the work. A geotagged phone photo beats a polished stock image every time.
Act like a living business
Post weekly — an offer, a finished job, a seasonal note. Five minutes. And seed the Q&A yourself with the questions customers actually ask: parking, pricing approach, turnaround. You’re writing the sales conversation Google shows before anyone contacts you.
Most local businesses set this up once and never touch it again. That’s not a problem — that’s your head start. The full walkthrough is in our Google Business Profile guide.
